How Wishboard works, step by step. Stuck on something this guide doesn't answer?
Write to meGetting started
Wishboard keeps the things you want as photos on a board. Use it to save up for your dreams, or as a wish list friends can give from without buying the same thing twice.
It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. There is no account to create. Friends who open your gift link need only a browser.
The first launch asks what your board is for (dreams to come true, or a wish list for friends), helps you add a first wish and a few more, and opens your board.
The tabs
- Boards — the wishes on one board. Tap the board’s name at the top to switch boards. Sort and Share sit in the toolbar.
- Profile — your picture and name, how many wishes came true, and a card for every board. The gear at the top right opens Settings.
- + — adds a wish on Boards, or a new board on Profile.
Boards
Boards are made and managed on the Profile tab. Tap a board’s card to unfold it and show its tools and figures.
- New board: on Profile, tap +, type a name and tap Create. You can also make one while adding a wish: tap the Board tile, then New board….
- Open a board: tap Open on its card.
- Rename: tap the pencil on the card.
- Change the look: tap the palette on the card (see Appearance below).
- Delete: tap the bin on the card and confirm. Its wishes go with it, for everyone it’s shared with too. Your last board of your own can’t be deleted.
- Reorder boards: touch and hold a card, then drag it.
Each card shows what everything on the board costs together (in your Settings currency), how much you have put aside, and the nearest due date.
Arranging wishes
- Sort — My order, Closest to done or Due soonest. In the two sorted orders, wishes that came true go last.
- Reorder — touch and hold a tile and drag it.
- Tile size — pinch the board to show bigger or smaller tiles. Each board remembers its own.
- Delete — touch and hold a tile to show delete badges, or open the wish, tap Edit and tap the bin.
Appearance
Open a board’s look from the palette on its card. A live miniature shows the result as you change it.
- Backdrop: The board’s photographs lights the board with colours from its own photos. My colours uses four corner colours of your own, with presets Sunrise, Mint, Berry and Dusk. My photograph puts one photo behind everything.
- Tiles: Glass, or Polaroid, Sticker, Gallery frame and Taped print.
- Titles on tiles: switch it off for a wall of photos. A wish with no photo keeps its words.
The page you share with friends is lit the same way. Your own colours, your own photograph and the four paper tile styles are part of Premium.
Wishes
Adding a wish
On the Boards tab, tap +. Fill in what you know:
- Photo — tap Add a photo. The Photo menu can Remove background to cut the thing out of its photo.
- Title — what you want.
- Price and its currency. A price is optional; without one, the wish has no savings bar.
- By a date — tap Add to give the wish a time span. A ring then shows the days left.
- Board — which board it goes on.
- Link — paste a shop link and tap Fetch to fill in the name, photo and price.
- Notes — colour, size, why you want it.
Tap Pin to the board to save it. A wish needs a title or a photo.
Adding from a link
Wishboard reads shop pages and fills in the name, photo and price, without overwriting anything you typed. There are several ways in:
- Copy a link in Safari or a shop app, then open Wishboard. A bar offers to add it; tap Add. If iOS asks “Allow Paste?”, you can stop the question for good: in the Settings app, open Wishboard › Paste from Other Apps › Allow. Settings › Copied links in the app walks you through it.
- Share to Wishboard from Safari, a shop app or Photos. Choose the board if you have more than one. Several links at once become one wish each.
- Paste the link into the Link field while adding a wish.
Links from Google Maps or Apple Maps become a place with a map picture. Some shops turn automated reads away, so a name, photo or price may be missing; add those by hand.
A photo shared on its own from Photos can start a New wish, or be added to a wish you already have.
Reading a wish
Tap a tile to open it, and pull the sheet up to see it full screen. It shows the photo, title, the shop (tap to open it), the dates, your notes and the price. Tap the ring to switch between days left and how much of the wait is gone. On a shared board, the face in the corner shows who added it.
Tap Edit to change anything. Changing the currency converts the price and the amount saved, rather than relabelling them. Moving a wish to another board takes its savings and history with it.
Saving up
Every wish with a price has a savings bar.
- Drag or tap the bar to set how much you have put aside. It moves in round steps, with a small tap of feedback every 5%.
- Tap the Saved figure to type an exact amount.
- Left shows what is still to go.
When two people on a shared board change the amount at the same time, both changes count.
When a wish comes true
- With a price: drag the savings bar past the end, onto the check mark.
- Without a price: slide the bar at the bottom: Slide — it came true.
Confetti, a full green bar and a stamp with the date. Tap the stamp to change the day it came true. To undo it, tap Start over: the wish stops being done and what was put aside goes back to zero.
A link for friends
A gift link publishes a page of your board that anyone can open in a browser, and where friends mark what they’ll give.
- Open a board, tap Share, then Link for friends.
- Tap Create link.
- Tap Send to friends, or Copy, or Show a QR code for someone next to you.
Tap Preview to see the page as friends do. The first time you share, Wishboard asks for your name, which friends see on the page; you can change it on the Profile tab.
What friends see
The board’s name, your name and picture, and for each wish its photo, title, notes, price, shop link, the date you want it by, and whether it came true. They see the board in your tile style and colours. They never see what you have saved, when you added a wish, or who on your board added it.
Reservations
On the page a friend taps I’ll give this, leaves a name or stays anonymous, and taps Reserve. Other guests then see that it is taken, with the name if one was left, so nobody buys the same thing twice. A friend can undo with Changed my mind, from the same browser they reserved in. When a wish comes true, its reservation is freed.
By default the app shows you only how many gifts were picked, not which; opening your own link in a browser shows the page as guests see it. To see them, tap ⋯ in Link for friends and choose Show me what’s reserved, then Show me: you’ll see each gift and the name the giver left, and get a notification when someone picks one. It spoils the surprise; you can hide the list again, but not unsee it.
Changing or turning off the link
Tap ⋯ in Link for friends:
- Make a new link — the old link stops working. What friends reserved stays.
- Turn off page — the link stops working, and the page and its reservations are deleted.
Deleting the board also takes its page down. Only the board’s owner can make or change its link. Changes you make on the board reach the page a moment after you save, while your phone is online.
Co-owners
Co-owners keep a board together: everyone adds and edits wishes, saves money and marks them as come true. Each co-owner needs Wishboard on an iPhone or iPad and an iCloud account.
- Open a board, tap Share, then Invite a co-owner.
- Send the invitation from the iCloud sharing sheet.
- They tap it, and the board opens in their Wishboard.
Invitations are personal: forwarding one doesn’t let anyone else in. Only the owner invites people, renames the board, changes its look, deletes it or runs its gift link.
People, in the Share menu, lists everyone on the board and how many wishes each has added. To stop sharing, or to leave a board someone shared with you, use Co-owners in the Share menu.
When a co-owner adds a wish or one comes true, the others get a notification. Allow notifications when Wishboard asks. Your own edits never notify you.
A board shared with you doesn’t count toward the free board limit, and shows the owner’s look whatever your own plan.
Make a picture
Turn a board into an image: tap Share, then Make a picture.
- Story — to send or post.
- iPhone and iPad — a wallpaper. Room for the clock keeps the top clear for the Lock Screen clock.
- Mac — a desktop picture for a MacBook or a larger display.
- Print — A5, A4, A3, Letter or Tabloid at 300 dpi, portrait or landscape.
Choose the tile style and whether to show titles and prices, then tap Save to Photos or Share. A story picture carries a QR code to your gift page, or to the App Store if the board has none. Pictures are free; saving one in a paper tile style needs Premium. Make a picture is available once a board has a wish.
To share a single wish, open it and tap Share for a story-sized card. It carries a QR code to the wish on your gift page, or to its shop.
Widgets
With Premium, put Wishboard on your Home Screen:
- A wish (small) — one wish, dressed as it is on its board.
- Board (medium and large) — the top of one of your boards.
Touch and hold the widget, then Edit Widget, to choose the wish or board, and Tiles or Photos only. Tapping it opens that wish or board.
If you used Wishboard before widgets became Premium, they stay free for you, also after a reinstall or on a new phone with the same Apple Account. A locked widget shows Unlock with Premium; tap it to see the offer.
Daily reminder
A minute with your board each day is what makes it work. The first launch offers a daily reminder; later, turn on Daily reminder in Settings and pick a Time. If notifications are off for Wishboard, the reminder switches itself off.
Sync between devices
Your boards, wishes, photos and savings sync to every iPhone and iPad on your Apple Account, through your own iCloud. Your name and picture sync too. The first sync on a new device can take a little while.
Settings
Open the Profile tab and tap the gear.
- Wishboard Premium — your plan, and Restore Purchases.
- Appearance — System, Light or Dark.
- App Icon — Classic, or Glow, Ocean, Coral, Mint, Midnight and Graphite with Premium.
- Currency — used for board totals and new wishes. Each wish keeps the currency it was written in.
- Language — opens the Settings app, where each app can have its own language.
- Copied links — how to let Wishboard read copied links without asking.
- Haptics — the taps you feel.
- Daily reminder and its Time.

On the Profile tab, tap your picture to change it, and the name field to change your name.
Wishboard Premium
Free, you get one board of your own with as many wishes as you like, link import, savings, the gift link with reservations, co-owners, pictures in the Glass style and the daily reminder. Boards shared with you don’t count toward the limit.
Premium adds:
- Home Screen widgets,
- unlimited boards,
- your own backdrop: four colours or a photograph,
- tile styles: Polaroid, Sticker, Gallery frame and Taped print,
- six more app icon colours.
Premium is a one-time purchase for life, or a monthly plan, with a free trial if your Apple Account is eligible. The Premium screen shows the prices in your country. If Premium ends, nothing is deleted: boards over the limit stay, and your colours and tile styles come back when Premium does.
Restoring Premium
Open the Profile tab, tap the gear, tap the Premium card, then Restore Purchases at the bottom. Use the Apple Account you bought it with.
Cancelling the monthly plan
In the Settings app on iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wishboard. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for. To avoid being charged, cancel at least a day before the free trial ends.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Your boards live on your devices and in your own iCloud. Friends who open your gift link need only a browser.
My boards aren’t on my other device.
Use the same Apple Account on both and make sure iCloud is on for Wishboard. The first sync on a new device can take a little while.
What is free and what is Premium?
Free gives you one board of your own with as many wishes as you like, link import, savings, the gift link and co-owners. Boards shared with you don’t count. Premium adds Home Screen widgets, unlimited boards, your own backdrop, tile styles and six app icon colours.
How do friends see my wish list?
Open a board, tap Share, then Link for friends, and send the link. It opens in any browser, where friends mark what they’ll give so nobody buys the same thing twice.
Will I see what friends reserved?
Not in the app unless you choose to: it shows only how many gifts were picked. In Link for friends, ⋯ › Show me what’s reserved reveals each gift and the name the giver left, and notifies you when someone picks one. The page itself shows guests which gifts are taken.
Can someone else edit my board?
Yes, if you invite them as a co-owner: Share › Invite a co-owner. They need Wishboard and iCloud, and they get a notification when a wish is added or comes true.
Why can’t I make a second board?
Free includes one board of your own. Premium makes them unlimited. A board someone shares with you doesn’t count toward the limit.
Why didn’t a link fill in the name or price?
Some shops turn automated reads away, so a name, photo or price can be missing. Add what is missing by hand. Sharing the page from Safari to Wishboard often reads more than a copied link.
My widgets are locked.
Widgets are part of Premium. If you used Wishboard before widgets became Premium, they stay free for you, also on a new phone with the same Apple Account.
How do I turn off a gift link?
Open Link for friends, tap ⋯ and choose Turn off page. The page and its reservations are deleted. Make a new link instead keeps the reservations and retires the old link.
How do I restore Premium?
Open the Profile tab, tap the gear, tap the Premium card, then tap Restore Purchases at the bottom. Use the Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I cancel the monthly plan?
In the Settings app on iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wishboard. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for. The lifetime purchase has nothing to cancel.

Write to sandoya1101@gmail.com. Every message is read and answered by the person who makes Wishboard, usually within a day or two.
For a bug, it helps to say what you did and what happened instead, and to include your device, its iOS, iPadOS, macOS or watchOS version, and the app version shown at the bottom of Settings.
