Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
This policy explains what Money Tracker for iPhone, iPad and Mac does with your data. Money Tracker is made by Serhii Surzhykov (“we”). It is free, with an optional PRO subscription.
In short
- There is no account and no sign-in, and no server of ours holds your finances.
- Your accounts, transactions, receipts and places stay on your devices and in your own iCloud, encrypted by Apple.
- A few services receive only what they need for one job: market prices, logos, maps, crash reports, anonymous usage statistics and subscriptions. Each is listed below.
- No advertising, no tracking across apps, no generative AI, no data sold.
What you create, and where it lives
Everything you enter stays on your device: accounts, balances, transactions, categories, merchants, notes, budgets, goals, recurring transactions, receipts and places. If iCloud is on, it syncs through Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database) to your devices on the same Apple Account. That copy is in your Apple Account, protected by Apple’s encryption; we cannot see or read it.
Widgets, the share extension and the Quick Add widget keep small working copies, such as the balances a widget shows, on your device only. A custom header photo stays on the device and is not synced. Backups and CSV exports are files you choose where to save or send.
Permissions
- Location — optional, for Places, and only “While Using the App”. It is read only at the moment a purchase is logged: when you add a transaction, or when an Apple Pay automation you set up in Shortcuts logs a payment. Money Tracker never asks for “Always” and never tracks you in the background. While a map is open, it shows your position on screen without storing it.
- Camera — only to scan receipts, and only when you choose to.
- Photos and files — you pick a photo or PDF with the system picker, or share an image from another app. Money Tracker sees only what you choose.
- Face ID, Touch ID and passcode — if you turn on the app lock, your device handles the check. Money Tracker never receives your face, fingerprint or passcode.
- Notifications — reminders, budget alerts, recurring-payment alerts and confirmations of automatically logged payments are scheduled on your device, with no server of ours.
Money Tracker does not use your contacts, microphone, calendar or health data. You can turn any permission off in Settings; everything else keeps working.
What leaves your device, and to whom
None of these services receives your balances, amounts, account names or anything else you entered, unless stated.
Yahoo Finance — prices and exchange rates
To show prices, charts and exchange rates, Money Tracker, its widgets and its Siri and Apple Pay actions request the ticker symbols you track, the text you type when searching for a ticker, and the currencies you hold. As with any internet request, Yahoo sees your IP address. See Yahoo’s privacy policy.
Financial Modeling Prep — ticker logos
Company logos are loaded by ticker symbol, with no cookies. See their privacy policy.
Apple — maps
To suggest the shop you are in, show addresses, draw purchases on a map and route between them, Money Tracker uses Apple’s map services (MapKit), which receive the coordinates and the name of the place being looked up. The place you choose is saved with the transaction on your device and in your iCloud. If you open a place in another maps app (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or Citymapper), that app receives the destination; a route opened in Apple Maps or Google Maps also passes every stop.
Receipts stay on the device
Text on a receipt is recognised on your device by Apple’s Vision framework. Receipt images are not sent to us or to any recognition service.
TelemetryDeck — anonymous usage statistics
To see which features are used, Money Tracker, its widgets and its share extension send anonymous signals: which screens and features are opened, onboarding and subscription steps, whether you are on the free plan or PRO, rounded days since install, rounded counts (such as how many accounts or budgets you have, never their contents), on purchase the product, store country, currency and price, Apple’s MetricKit performance statistics, and the device model, OS version, app version and language. They never contain amounts, account names, categories, merchants, notes, places or any text you enter. The identifier is anonymised and cannot be reversed; no advertising identifier is used. See TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy.
Sentry — crash reports
Release builds of the app, its widgets and its share extension send a report when the app crashes, freezes or hits an error: the error and its stack trace, device model, OS and app version, settings, Apple’s crash and hang diagnostics, and a short technical log of recent app events. For a sample of sessions, Sentry also receives performance timings, profiles of the app’s own code, and session start and end. Reports never contain balances, amounts, account names, goals, receipts, places, screenshots, the view hierarchy, which controls you tapped, or network addresses. The IP address, location and any user details are removed on the device; a random per-install identifier groups reports from one device. Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) processes them in the European Union. See Sentry’s privacy policy.
RevenueCat — subscriptions
See Purchases below.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or when necessary in good faith to protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or respond to a lawful request.
Purchases
Money Tracker PRO is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your payment details, name or e-mail. Whether PRO is active is decided on your device by Apple’s StoreKit. Purchases go through RevenueCat, Inc. (United States), which is contacted when the app starts and receives the App Store transaction, an anonymous identifier and, as with any internet request, your IP address and basic device information. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not show advertising or share data for advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not send your data to generative AI services.
- We do not require an account, an e-mail address or a phone number.
How long data is kept
What you create stays on your device and in your iCloud for as long as you keep it there. Anonymous statistics and crash reports are kept by their providers for a limited period and then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Delete any account, transaction, receipt, place, goal or budget in the app at any time.
- To remove everything, delete the app, then its data in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.
- Turn off location, camera or notifications in Settings.
- There is no switch for statistics and crash reports; deleting the app ends all collection.
- Account, budget and goal names are added to Spotlight on your device so you can search them; they stay on the device.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a place with similar law, you have the right to access, correct, export and erase your data and to object to its processing. Your financial records are held on your device and in your own iCloud, so you exercise those rights in the app. Anonymous statistics and crash reports are not linked to you, but you can still ask about them; write to the address below and you will get an answer within 30 days.
Legal bases under the GDPR: your consent for location, camera and photo access; the performance of a contract for purchases; and our legitimate interest in a stable app for crash reports and anonymous statistics.
Security
Your data is protected by your device passcode, Apple’s encryption of device and iCloud data, and your Apple Account security. The optional Face ID, Touch ID or passcode lock adds another layer. Every network request uses an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Children
Money Tracker is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and it will be deleted.
Changes
This policy may change as the app changes. Each new version is published on this page with a new date.
